Another fashion art quilt. Thank you @elizabethbartolomeo_ for your suggestions on the embroidery, I love how it turned out! At first I tried tulle over the skirt but felt like it hid the beauty of the flowers, so I just did some wavy stitching to mimic the lines of the skirt. I hand-cut raw edge flower appliqués using #moda fabrics. Finished size is about 14” X 18”, but I think a larger size would be fun also. This is an art quilt made from one of my favorite @rileyblakedesigns collections ever called Serenity by @plantedseeddesigns. It’s based on a photo of my grandmother in her wedding dress dated 1920. The background is pieced using a disappearing 9 patch with @modafabrics and I used a raw edge appliqué technique for the figure. I painted details with @derwentartofficial inktense pencils and added free motion embroidery with @aurifilthread. I have more details on my blog.
